Yahoo has updated its news app, integrating AI features that will provide personalized information based on user preferences, selected topic and preferred publishers.
Yahoo revamps its news app with AI features
Yahoo recently revamped its Yahoo! News app with all-new AI features designed to improve and respond to user experience. Yahoo acquired AI news app Artifact this year and rolled out the now-shuttered app’s AI features. The Yahoo app now features a highly customizable feed after the update, allowing users to easily change their content preferences.
The app will now provide news recommendations based on user preferences, selected topics and preferred publishers through built-in AI algorithms. This is designed in a way to ensure that users get their favorite news stories on their news feed.
A key feature of this update is the Key Takeaways tool, which provides a basic summary of the news story, allowing users to get the gist of the story in just a few lines. A Top Stories section has also been introduced by Yahoo, which presents top global news stories to users to update in real time. Yahoo has also added sharing tools that can be used to share articles across various platforms, including social media. Users can now block specific keywords and take control of the content they want to consume.
The Yahoo! The News app is available for download on iOS and Android devices in a few selected regions. To encourage consistent reading, Yahoo has also introduced gamified elements such as streaks and badges to promote regular interactions between users, thereby rewarding them.
