Although revolutionary, the treaty has come under scrutiny because it does not provide for specific punitive measures but instead relies on enforcement of rules. It may therefore be unsuitable for enforcing AI regulations.
However, it is a much-needed international framework for AI ethics as more and more incidents of AI misuse come to light.

Nor is this an isolated incident: things have gotten worse when it comes to AI ethics and responsible use of digital media.
According to the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Marija Pejčinović: “This will be a new international standard for AI, balancing innovation and the protection of human rights. It will be a single, coordinated voice from different continents, advocating for the responsible development of AI.”
