New Delhi: WhatsApp said it is testing its Meta AI chatbot, based on a large language model, with users in India and some other markets, aiming to tap the massive user base to improve its intelligence offerings artificial (AI).
The tech giant recently began testing the AI chatbot in select markets, including the United States.
“Our AI-driven generative experiences are under development in various phases, and we are publicly testing a series of them in a limited capacity,” a Meta spokesperson said in a statement on Friday.
With more than 500 million WhatsApp users, India is the instant messaging service’s largest market.
The tech giant launched Meta AI, a general-purpose chatbot capable of generating photorealistic images from text prompts and responding to user queries in chats in September last year.
Additionally, the company confirmed earlier this week that it will launch Llama 3, its next big open source language model, in the coming month.
Meanwhile, Meta announced that it will activate an India-specific election operations center, bringing together experts to identify potential threats and implement specific mitigation measures in its apps (Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram ), while aiming to fight against fakes or manipulations generated by AI. content.
