More Pixel phones, maybe?
Although Google I/O is primarily a software-focused event, the company is known for surprising audiences with hardware announcements in the past. This year, the Pixel 8a has already been revealed ahead of the conference, but that doesn’t mean Google is short of tricks. Whispers of potential Pixel Fold 2 or even a teaser for the next one Pixel 9 Series have been circulating, leaving tech enthusiasts eager to see what Google has up its sleeve.
We might also see some new Nest hardware hitting the main stage. A new Chromecast, maybe a “Pro”.
Expand the Google ecosystem
In addition to headline-grabbing announcements, Google I/O 2024 is expected to feature updates and improvements across the company’s broad ecosystem of products and services. From improvements to Google Maps and Google Workspace to advancements in WearOS and smart home technology, we’ve been hearing about the new upgrades coming. But ultimately it will all be about AI.
What’s in it for developers
Keynote is what most normal people focus on, but I/O is a developer galore. Developers can expect a host of sessions, workshops, and resources designed to help them leverage the latest technologies and best practices in their projects. Whether harnessing the power of AI, optimizing for Android 15, or integrating with Google’s ever-expanding suite of tools, developers have access to new technologies to play with.
With AI poised to take center stage and Android 15 promising a new era of mobile innovation, Google looks set to set the tone for the year to come at I/O 2024.
