Cantieri di Pisa has unveiled the Saturno 56, the first model in a new series of five yachts that combine the shipyard’s traditional design elements with contemporary features to meet today’s market demands. The Saturno 56 is part of a range that will include yachts ranging from 38 to 90 metres in length, all characterised by distinctive black and white hull lines, expansive ‘ribbon’ windows and a classic aft design. The Saturno 56 features a six-cabin layout, including a refined beach club connected to the main and upper decks by a transverse staircase. The interior design, by Milan-based studio m2atelier, emphasises an informal and relaxed lifestyle suited to modern families. The yacht is powered by twin 1,600hp Caterpillar C32 engines, with the shipyard considering a hybrid alternative to meet the growing demand for environmentally friendly options. Antonio Luxardo, Cantieri di Pisa’s chief designer, highlighted the yacht’s mix of traditional and modern elements. “This range has a classic layout that takes up the traditional stylistic characteristics of Cantieri di Pisa but also responds to the demand of contemporary owners for spaces that balance relaxation and sport, while ensuring bright interiors with larger glass surfaces,” said Luxardo. The Saturno 56, measuring 57 meters long and 11.20 meters wide, is distinguished by its aft area, which recalls the shipyard’s historical models. The beach club, designed as a terrace on the water, features a transparent-bottom swimming pool that enhances the space with natural light. The yacht also includes a gym on the sun deck, accessible via two side staircases. The yacht’s interiors are designed to maximize natural light and offer panoramic views. The main deck saloon spans 90 square metres and m2atelier’s design incorporates natural materials, clean lines and minimalist finishes. The studio describes the Saturno series as a modern reinterpretation of Cantieri di Pisa’s iconic yachts, aiming to create an onboard lifestyle characterised by freedom and openness. The Saturno 56 features Cantieri di Pisa’s EHPH (Eco High Power Hull) displacement hull, designed for long-distance cruising with reduced fuel consumption. While the current model is powered by traditional engines, the shipyard is exploring hybrid propulsion to align with market trends in sustainability. Founded in 1945 on the Arno River, the Tuscan shipyard has become renowned for its planing motor yachts, such as the Akhir and Kitalpha series designed by Pierluigi Spadolini.
