Although not shown, the same model can be used to determine the impact of lost sales of the cord putter product by clicking on “Mo 4 April” in the “Month” field column, then clicking on “Cord Putter” under “Product”. » Jane is the seller of this product, whose sales in April totaled $10,919,932. By clicking on “Mo 5 May” in the “Month” field column, we learn that Jane’s sales for the corded putter in May were $6,186,016 – a decrease in corded putter sales in May of 4 $733,916, representing 6.3% of the total sales decline in May.
This analysis shows that the root cause of the sales decline was this account. We would then like to ask the salesperson on the account, Jane, what happened and why sales dropped.
FIND IDEAS TO RECOVER LOST SALES
Once we, as Pro Flight accountants, have determined the underlying causes of the problem and begun working to resolve them, the need for possible means of recovery may be desirable. One way to uncover impacts on increasing or decreasing sales is to use the “Key Influencers” feature in Power BI.
Power BI’s “Key Influencers” visualization is a robust feature that helps understand how attributes determine (or “influence”) a specific attribute. This visualization analyzes the data and explains its impact as significant factors affecting the data as individual and group “key influencers” (described in Power BI) as “top segments” and their respective influencers.
The visualization is customizable, allowing users to filter the visual and view the remaining values considered influencers with Power BI’s AI selecting key data.
In the following example, we will use “Key Influencers” to determine “Which (attributes) influence the amount (of sales) to increase?” »
Build a “Key Influencers” visualization:
■ Adding another page (click the “+” to the right of “Page 2” at the bottom left of the screen to add “Page 3” as shown previously).
■ Click the blank canvas area. Select and click on the “Key Influencers” visualization icon under the “Visualization” pane circled in green in the “Breakdown Tree – Monday April 4 to Monday May 5” screenshot.
■ Enlarge the visualization area as before by left-clicking the bottom right corner of the blank visualization and dragging down and to the right. (Refer to the screenshot “Page 2 “Decomposition Tree”” if necessary). As changes are added, the “key influencers” begin to take shape. (See the screenshot “Building the Key Influencer Visualization.”) Because the goal is to “analyze” the amount (of sales), left-click, drag and drop the “Amount” field ” under the “Transactions” file and release it into the “Analyze” box indicating “Add data fields here” located in the “Visualizations” pane (shown in the “Building the key influencers visualization” screenshot with the orange line and arrow).
