The University of Rochester’s business school will launch a new online master’s program this fall with the goal of training IT professionals to leverage data analytics and artificial intelligence tools.
According to a recent Press release, the school’s new online Master of Science in Business Analytics and Applied AI program will combine analytical training with insights into business applications of artificial intelligence. The 14-month online program, scheduled to begin in August, will include synchronous and asynchronous courses designed to hone the skills of working IT professionals.
“AI technology is rapidly transforming the business world,” Sevin Yeltekin, dean of the Simon Business School, said in a public statement. “Our online MS in Business Analytics and Applied AI is uniquely positioned to provide professionals with the advanced skills needed to leverage AI in data analysis and decision-making processes to add value to their organization.”
Data science jobs expected to grow, according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics 35 percent from 2022 to 2032. In addition, a recent Amazon study predicts that advances in machine learning and the development of generative AI tools such as ChatGPT will streamline daily operations across industries and workplaces by the end of the decade.
The press release states that the idea for the new curriculum came from feedback from tech industry leaders, including one-on-one discussions and focus groups with alumni, on how to provide training to students so that they acquire the skills most demanded by employers today. . The program’s curriculum will include courses on topics such as AI in business, analytics-based decisions, and marketing analytics, with an emphasis on practical applications of emerging technologies in business.
