China develops AI model for military using Meta’s llama
Major Chinese research institutions linked to the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) have used Meta’s publicly available Llama model will help develop an AI tool for potential military applicationsaccording to academic articles and analysts. In a June article reviewed by Reuterssix Chinese researchers from three institutions, including two under the PLA’s leading research body, the Academy of Military Sciences (AMS), detailed how they used an early version of Meta’s Llama as the basis for what they call it “ChatBIT”.
The researchers used the Llama 2 13B Large Language Model (LLM) that Meta released in February 2023, incorporating their own parameters to build a military-focused AI tool to gather and process intelligence, and offer insights accurate and reliable for operational decision-making. ChatBIT has been refined and “optimized for dialogue and question-answering tasks in the military domain,” the paper said. Meta’s terms prohibit the use of the models for “military, war, industrial or nuclear applications, espionage” purposes.
ChatGPT to work as a search engine

Google also shook up its search engine in May with AI-generated written summaries.
Apple takes 22% value share in India
