The Business Council for AI Ethics was officially launched during the Ministerial and High-Level Summit on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence in Latin America and the Caribbean, held in Santiago, Chile, on 23 and October 24, organized by the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence. The Business Council for AI Ethics has been consolidated as a collaborative initiative between UNESCO and companies operating in Latin America and involved in the development or use of artificial intelligence (AI) in various sectors. The Council serves as a platform for companies to meet, exchange experiences and promote ethical practices in the AI industry, based on UNESCO recommendations.

Gabriela Ramos said: “In this era of rapid technological change, urgent action is imperative. The Business Council will support the UNESCO Recommendation by applying and refining the Ethical Impact Assessment as one of the implementation tools that UNESCO has created to put the Recommendation into practice. The Business Council will also work with UNESCO to better understand AI development in the region by providing insights into the economics and finance of AI.
