The Texas Department of Information Resources has awarded a $170.9 million contract to technology integration company Science Applications International Corporation, or SAIC, to provide the state and its network of agencies with IT and cybersecurity.
As part of the award of the contract, which was public last week, SAIC will help the DIR provide public agencies with cybersecurity monitoring and management services. Other services will include maintenance and deployment of security tools; risk assessment, management and mitigation; and assist state agencies in meeting cybersecurity requirements contained in state, federal, or industry regulations.
With this award, Texas joins Virginia, Colorado and California in relying on SAIC for IT and cybersecurity services. The company also serves the Ministry of Defense in systems modernization, most recently helping the Air Force deploy a cloud-based command and control capability across all air defense sectors within the North American Aerospace Defense Command, or NORAD.
