Tencent faced big challenges from emerging game developers and the shift to content-based games last year, so the company cannot rest on its laurels, Ma stressed.
Ma also commented on WeChat, saying that the social media platform was established 12 years ago and so the big problem is how to innovate now. Mini-programs, mini-games and research activities are the basis for WeChat’s future development, he noted.
Tencent Cloud’s revenue increased 11% to CNY 5.1 billion (USD 710.6 million) in the third quarter of last year from a year earlier, ranking fourth among companies Chinese Internet by capturing 9.5% of the national infrastructure as a service and platform as a service. services market, down 0.4 percentage points from the same period a year ago, according to data from the International Data Corporation.
