Technology News of the Week in India: This week’s technology trend mainly contributes to Generative AI. While OpenAI announced Sora, a text-to-video generation tool, and just weeks after its name change, Google also announced an updated version of Gemini 1.5 Pro, now more capable.

OpenAI Sora
Sora is OpenAI’s latest AI-powered generative tool, which can generate videos with simple text prompts. According to the company, “Sora is an AI model capable of creating realistic and imaginative scenes from textual instructions.” Currently available to select users, Sora can generate videos up to one minute long. These videos also include a watermark in the bottom right corner, making it easy to distinguish a real video from an AI-generated video.

Google Gemini 1.5 Pro
Google has just announced its most powerful LLM: Gemini 1.5 Pro, now available to Gemini Advanced subscribers. Google says the new model offers dramatic improvements over the Gemini 1.5 Pro, performs as well as the Gemini 1 Ultra, and uses less compute. The new model can run up to 1 million parameters consistently, resulting in a longer pop-up window. It is a mid-sized model built on a high-efficiency architecture with better understanding and reasoning capabilities.

Android 15 preview
The Android 15 preview is now available for developers and can be installed on the Pixel 6 and newer models. The next generation of the Android operating system introduces new features and capabilities, including the ability to share part of the screen, improved notification management, and much more. Google also confirmed that the stable version of Android 15 will be released after July 2024.

OnePlus will refund dissatisfied customers
OnePlus recently confirmed that the 256GB variant of the 12R uses UFS 3.1 storage instead of the first announced UFS 4.0. THE COO has now confirmed that dissatisfied users can get a full refund if they are not satisfied with the customer, and this window is open until March 16. The company also confirmed that both variants of the OnePlus 12R use UFS 3.1 storage.
