AMSTERDAM – Stellantis NV today announced the acquisition of the artificial intelligence framework, machine learning models and intellectual property rights and patents of CloudMade, a developer of intelligent and innovative automotive solutions based on Big Data.
The acquisition – as an asset transaction – will support the medium-term development of STLA SmartCockpit and strengthen Stellantis’ software strategy outlined in Dare Forward 2030.
The AI-driven framework created by CloudMade, with integrated GUIs, is the industry-leading cloud and software development kit for collecting and analyzing automotive data sets and has been the reference point for transforming user experience in car and mobility throughout the past. decade.
“Acquiring CloudMade’s pioneering AI capabilities will accelerate our development journey on STLA SmartCockpit and help us achieve our Dare Forward 2030 goals,” said Yves Bonnefont, Director of Software at Stellantis. “With this adaptable technology and leveraging our growing connected vehicle fleet, we will create intelligent mobility solutions faster and with more flexibility, to delight our customers with personalization of the in-vehicle and mobile experience.”
As part of the acquisition, 44 engineers and software developers from CloudMade, dedicated to the development of AI technology, will join Stellantis.
“CloudMade is extremely pleased with this transaction,” said Jim Brown, founder and CTO of CloudMade. “The team is excited to deepen its working relationship with Stellantis to bring new features to the vehicle cockpit.”
The CloudMade framework architecture helps maximize the value of data using three learning approaches: personalized learning, which predicts an individual’s behavior in a particular context; fleet learning, using data from sensors across devices to detect and share real-world features; cohort learning, combining real-world data with data from grouped groups of people distinguished by attributes.
CloudMade’s software technology will support Stellantis’ strategy to develop smart mobility products and improve the overall customer experience with personalized features that will make their driving safer, their lives easier and their journey exciting.
Services and products will include:
- Predictive maintenance and diagnostics to proactively identify and plan maintenance needs and provide alerts, thereby improving vehicle availability.
- Personalized in-car experiences capable of adapting to individual preferences such as climate control, driving style coaching and entertainment options.
- Voice assistant specific to Stellantis enhanced with personalized automotive skills to advise on vehicle features, respond to model-specific queries and optimize voice routing.
- Optimized mobile experience and remote controls such as pre-trip planning, battery preconditioning and other proposed activities based on frequent driver behavior.
- Advanced navigation and mapping which will provide updated maps, real-time traffic information and intelligent routing, thereby improving the overall navigation experience and helping customers reach their destination more efficiently.
- Targeted features for fleet management, which will enable business customers to optimize delivery schedules, reduce travel time and resource usage, increase productivity and performance of electric vehicles, and ultimately facilitate monitoring and management of the entire fleet.
Through this acquisition, Stellantis will also be able to develop fully owned, end-to-end navigation functionalities; improve data privacy, since data intended for training models will be managed internally, reducing the risks of possible exposure; and introduce SDKs to create custom templates for its software developers.
