Venture capital-backed startup Redbird Software Inc. today spear an analytics platform, also called Redbird, that uses artificial intelligence to help businesses find useful patterns in their data.
This product milestone comes about two years after the company closed a $7.6 million seed round backed by Y Combinator. Redbird claims to have tripled its workforce since the investment. In the same time frame, she has built a clientele that includes companies such as Mondelez International Inc. and Google LLC.
Redbird positions its platform as an alternative to established business intelligence tools such as Tableau. The platform includes AI capabilities that allow employees to analyze company data using natural language prompts. According to Redbird, its ChatGPT-like interface removes the need for specialized technical know-how needed to use some competing tools.
“Organizations lack truly self-service analytics, with the reality instead consisting of complex data pipelines, dashboards, and phantom analytics that require technical skills to execute,” said Erin Tavgac, CEO of Redbird (pictured right, with co-founder and COO Deren Tavgac.)
The company provides its platform with connectors for popular cloud applications such as Salesforce. Databricks, SimilarWeb and a number of other analytics tools are also supported. Businesses can use Redbird connectors to automate the task of extracting data into their analytics platform for processing.
Once the raw data is transmitted to the software, analysts can search for erroneous records and remove them. For example, a user can delete sales records that appear multiple times in a data set. Such duplicate items can appear when two of the applications from which a company streams information into Redbird store separate versions of the same file.
After removing errors from a data set, analysts can normalize it into a common format for easier analysis. Different business records are often stored in different ways: some company sales logs may specify the time of day the transaction was made, while others may not have this information. Removing these formatting differences makes it easier for analytics tools to process the data.
Redbird’s platform allows users to run analytics with natural language prompts. Workers can, for example, feed supply chain data into an AI model to find optimization opportunities. Redbird also supports other data analysis methods that lend themselves to tasks such as forecasting customer demand.
After completing an analysis, the platform can automatically transform the results into a data visualization. Redbird is capable of generating pie charts, maps, and various other graphics. It can also produce a natural language explanation of what a given chart displays, as well as package the data into a PowerPoint presentation.
For users with more advanced requirements, Redbird offers the ability to run analytics with SQL and Python. The latter language includes a large number of libraries, or prepackaged code modules, for performing advanced mathematical operations. These libraries can facilitate data science tasks such as generating revenue forecasts.
Redbird says its number of customers has increased sevenfold since its 2022 launch cycle, although it did not provide more precise figures. The software company now counts eight Fortune 50 companies among its clients. Redbird revealed today that it is also in the process of integrating “some of the largest” US government agencies onto its platform.
