New natural language querying, advanced operational reporting, and Redshift rewriting capabilities enable business users and data teams to
SAN FRANCISCO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Sigma, the only cloud analytics platform with data warehouse rewrite, today announced a powerful suite of new features designed to empower both data teams and business users . This launch combines cutting-edge AI advancements, enterprise-grade reporting tools, and infrastructure enhancements while ensuring governance and reliability.
First, Sigma introduces Ask Sigma, a natural language query interface that answers a user’s questions while guiding them through each step of the analytical thinking process and showing which “chain of inquiry” analysis methods thought” are used to get an answer.
It is carefully designed to help users solve their questions and learn new analytical skills using AI. Unlike most other AI features in data analysis platforms, Ask Sigma offers users full transparency over its decision logic and allows users to modify any step of its analysis. Ask Sigma will incorporate user feedback into its modified analysis, rather than starting over like most other AI assistants do. It also provides additional analysis that is relevant to the user and encourages them to further explore the results in a Sigma workbook. This holistic approach to answering a question allows the user to broaden the understanding of their data.
One of Ask Sigma’s first clients is Clay, the New York-based AI company that is one of the fastest-growing startups in 2024.
“At Clay, we offer self-service analytics and Ask Sigma plays a key role in our process,” said Josh Hanson, founding data scientist at Clay. “Ask Sigma not only points users in the right direction, but also details exactly what it did so users can have greater confidence in the results. The way Ask Sigma is designed makes it feel more like a partner to the user, helping them identify data trends and learn new analysis skills. This has already saved our data team time and helped more business stakeholders provide their own analytics at Clay.
During the product launch today, Sigma also highlighted AI Query, which allows teams to easily apply AI/ML models to data. With AI Query, data teams can take advantage of the latest Gen AI features like summarizing, classification, and open prompts right in Sigma’s formula bar. As long as the customer’s cloud warehouse exposes the LLMs via an SQL function, the customer can call on them directly in Sigma.
“AI is transforming the way organizations interact with their data,” said Rob Woolen, co-founder and CTO of Sigma. “With Ask Sigma and AI Query, we are making AI accessible and transparent, allowing teams to leverage advanced analytics while maintaining complete visibility into how insights are generated. »
In addition to the new AI capabilities, Sigma also announced an expansion of its industry-leading rewrite capabilities to include Amazon Redshift via input tables. Teams can now write data back to Amazon Redshift directly from Sigma, streamlining workflows without the need for external ETL tools. This feature improves collaboration and reduces manual steps in data processes.
“As the only analytics platform that allows users to analyze and update data directly in their cloud data warehouse, this extension helps even more organizations transform their data warehouses into dynamic hubs for collaboration and decision-making,” said Mike Palmer, CEO of Sigma. .
Enhanced operational reporting capabilities
Sigma also introduced comprehensive updates to its pivot table functionality and reporting capabilities:
- Customizable subtotals: Customize subtotals in pivot tables to help analyze financial reports and performance metrics more efficiently, providing more granular control over data summaries.
- Advanced hierarchies: Manage and model complex organizational relationships, enabling more efficient slicing of financial, sales and operational data.
- Burst export: Automate the generation and distribution of custom reports at scale. Export Bursting ensures that reports are consistent and delivered efficiently to relevant stakeholders, saving time and resources.
“Our latest release represents a major advancement in data-driven decision making,” Palmer said. “By integrating AI-powered capabilities with enterprise-grade reliability, we enable organizations to put actionable data in the hands of every team member and enable those teams to contribute their knowledge to the system to drive smarter decisions and impactful outcomes, while ensuring strong governance and trust.
