September 5 (THEWILL) – The Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, has unveiled plans to sponsor hundreds of Kano students to study Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cybersecurity, Forensic Science and Robotics in various tertiary institutions abroad.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the Legislator on Media Affairs, Ismaila Mudasir, in Kano State on Thursday.
Mudasir said that this gesture was part of Senator Jibrin’s educational development programs, especially for children from underprivileged families.
“My foundation, Barau I Jibrin Foundation (BIJF), has secured admission of meritorious students from the three senatorial districts of Kano State to pursue postgraduate programmes abroad.
“The programme is for all sons and daughters of Kano citizens irrespective of their political affiliation,” the senator was quoted as saying by the media adviser.
He said the senator’s foundation had already secured the admission of 70 students in the first batch of the programme and they would receive their admission letters next September.
Mudasir said the programme is part of efforts to promote academic excellence and boost technological progress in Nigeria.
The media advisor also explained that the initiative would help address the shortage of experts in these specialized fields.
