TechEd 2024 innovations showcase SAP’s broad collection of game-changers in enterprise AI, from collaborative agents to Knowledge Graph capabilities and generative AI development capabilities in SAP Build
WALLDORF — SAP SE (NYSE: SAP) today unveiled groundbreaking AI innovations on a technology foundation that drives 87% of global commerce, placing its generative AI co-pilot Joule at the center of a new way of doing business.
At its annual SAP TechEd conference, SAP announced powerful new capabilities that complement and extend Joule, including collaborative AI agents with personalized skills to accomplish complex cross-disciplinary tasks. Other innovations include SAP Knowledge Graph, a next-generation solution to help developers unlock the full value of SAP data by connecting it to rich business context, and new tools to help developers continue to drive innovation in commercial AI.
“SAP innovation drives real business results, and today’s advancements help customers harness the power of AI, data and new development solutions to catalyze growth,” said Muhammad Alam, Member of the Board of Directors of SAP SE, SAP Product Engineering. “Building on SAP’s unrivaled business and technology expertise, the AI innovations we are announcing at TechEd forge a new human-AI partnership to transform the modern enterprise landscape.
Joule of boost
On the eve of its first anniversary, Joule marks a turning point in the way business is done. SAP Introduces Collaborative AI Agents to a Co-Pilot That Truly Speaks the Language of Business, Expands Joule’s Capabilities to Support 80% of SAP’s Most Used Business Tasks, and Integrates Joule Deeper into the Enterprise Portfolio .
Collaborative multi-agent systems deploy specialized AI agents to accomplish specific tasks and enable them to collaborate on complex workflows, adapting their strategies to achieve common goals. SAP is equipping Joule with multiple collaborative AI agents who will combine their unique expertise across business functions to collaboratively accomplish complex workflows. These AI agents improve productivity by breaking down silos and allowing workers to focus on areas where human ingenuity thrives.
Two use cases launched at TechEd highlight the transformative power of agents:
- A dispute management use case uses autonomous AI agents to analyze and resolve dispute resolution scenarios, including incorrect and missing invoices, unapplied credits, and declined or duplicate payments.
- A financial accounting use case uses autonomous AI agents to streamline key financial processes by automating invoice payments, invoice processing, and general ledger updates while quickly correcting inconsistencies or errors.
Harness the power of data
SAP’s AI innovations also leverage the company’s unrivaled expertise in business data. The new SAP Knowledge Graph solution, accessible through SAP Datasphere and Joule in Q1 2025, will provide users with a deeper layer of business understanding by seamlessly mapping relationships and context across SAP’s vast data landscape, enabling organizations to make better decisions with their data. By providing out-of-the-box relationships between business entities, such as purchase orders, invoices and customers, the solution can significantly reduce the complexity of manual data modeling. SAP Knowledge Graph bases AI on SAP-specific business semantics, reducing the risk of inaccurate or irrelevant results and making it easier for organizations to build intelligent applications and leverage generative AI more effectively.
Empowering developers
SAP also launched a series of innovations enabling developers to continue to drive business AI innovation. New generative AI development capabilities, such as code explanation and documentation search in SAP Build, the company’s platform for extending its solutions, will reduce development time for Java and JavaScript developers. SAP Build also adds an Extensibility Assistant feature that will allow developers to access SAP Build directly from SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, simplifying the extension process. Meanwhile, ABAP developers and merge teams will benefit from seamless access to SAP Build’s ABAP Cloud development tools.
Finally, SAP announced that it has already delivered on its commitment to upskill 2 million people worldwide by 2025. Thanks to its learning opportunitiesthe company has closed the world’s digital skills gap through role-based certifications, free training materials, hands-on opportunities for developers, and more. SAP continues to expand its growing portfolio of AI-related training opportunities, including courses on generative AI, AI ethics, and SAP’s advanced AI tools and platforms.
