Samsung, following the successful launch of its Galaxy S24 series featuring Galaxy AI, is expanding its AI technology to wearable devices. The move aims to revolutionize digital health experiences and marks an important milestone in Samsung’s commitment to integrating AI into its product portfolio.
In a editorial Written by TM Roh, CEO and President of Samsung MX, the company announced plans to integrate Galaxy AI features into future wearable devices. This initiative aims to leverage AI to improve health monitoring capabilities, promising a new era of intelligent health experiences for users.
“We are already planning the next steps for Galaxy AI beyond smartphones, optimizing it for different categories of devices across various services,” TM Roh wrote.
“In the near future, select Galaxy wearables will use AI to improve digital health and usher in a whole new era of expanded, intelligent health experiences. Samsung will continue to enrich and expand Galaxy AI experiences across categories through collaborations with more leading AI partners.
While specific details on upcoming AI features remain confidential, industry insiders believe they could debut alongside the highly anticipated Galaxy Ring and the Galaxy Watch 7 series. Scheduled for release in the second half of 2024, these wearables are expected to be revealed at Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6.
Samsung’s commitment to advancing fitness and health tracking features in its wearable devices has been evident in recent years. The transition to Wear OS with the Galaxy Watch 4 has opened doors to a broader ecosystem of apps and integrations, while collaborations with universities and industry partners have led to improved performance and accuracy of health monitoring.
According to TM Roh, AI has the potential to revolutionize not only Samsung smartphones but the entire technology sector. He highlighted Samsung’s commitment to exploring innovative concepts and bringing them to life through the integration of AI across various devices, including smartphones, smartwatches and tablets.
However, Roh acknowledged the challenges and responsibilities associated with AI development, citing concerns over data privacy, security and intellectual property rights. He highlighted the importance of transparent collaboration between companies to address these issues and ensure the ethical advancement of AI technologies.
