Samsung will integrate Google’s generative artificial intelligence (AI) technology into its next generation of Galaxy smartphones.
THE South Korean company unveiled the S24 series and boasted a range of new features powered by AI Wednesday.
“We will reshape the technology landscape, we will open a new chapter without barriers to unlock your potential,” TM Roh, president of Samsung’s mobile experience division, told a crowd in San Jose, California.
The phones will use Gemini Nano built-in, Google most efficient large language model and access Gemini Pro and Imagen 2 text-to-image synthesis technology via the cloud.
An AI feature will provide live translation during phone calls in 13 languages and 17 dialects.
Customers will also be able to use AI-based summarization and classification features on Samsung’s own apps such as Notes, Voice Recorder and Keyboard.
The Imagen template will help users perform complex photo editing tasks in the Gallery app, a feature that could help people refine their photos but could also make it easier to create misleading images.
The new phones will also introduce Google’s ‘Circle To Search’ feature, allowing users to circle snippets of text, parts of photos or videos to get instant search results on whatever has been highlighted.
The new phones will go on sale towards the end of January.
