Minister of Digital Government and Services Elvis Loveless said: “Canadians expect our public services to keep pace with the digital world and for governments to do everything in their power to protect them.”
Political leaders responsible for digital trust and cybersecurity met this week in St. John’s for the Federal-Provincial-Territorial Ministerial Symposium. Discussions focused on three key areas: cybersecurity, digital trust, and artificial intelligence (AI). They highlighted the importance of putting in place measures to facilitate the sharing of cybersecurity information to better protect Canadians. Ministers discussed the use of technology to modernize systems and deliver better, faster, and smarter services to the public. They agreed that the use of AI should be assessed and managed on a case-by-case basis, and that where AI is being used in their own governments should be shared to identify best practices. Minister of Digital Government and Services Elvis Loveless said, “Canadians expect our public services to keep pace with the digital world and that governments will do everything in their power to protect them. By coming together, ministers are demonstrating their commitment to this goal.” »
