Enterprise Center efforts in Pennsylvania find new director
THE Business centera nonprofit organization that focuses on helping minority-owned businesses, announced that Howard S. Brown will serve as project director of its Pennsylvania Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) Business Center.
THE MBDA is a federal initiative of the United States Department of Commerce. The Pennsylvania Business Center helps small businesses in the state apply for loans, obtain capital, and provide general financial counseling.
“We are pleased to welcome a recognized expert in economic development and entrepreneurship to lead our MBDA Business Center in Pennsylvania,” said Della Clark, president and CEO of the Enterprise Center.
Brown joins the Enterprise Center from Temple University’s Fox School of Business, where he was a professor and executive director of Temple University’s Small Business Development Center.
Zaviant redoubles efforts for ethical and responsible governance of AI
Data Security and Privacy Consultant based in downtown Zaviant has appointed Adam Stone to lead its AI Governance practice group. The group will advise enterprise clients on how to implement AI ethically and responsibly.
Based in Minnesota, Stone has 20 years of experience in privacy and data security. It is not yet known whether he will relocate to Philadelphia. Prior to that, he was vice president of consulting services and chief privacy officer for security and privacy firm Secure Digital Solutions.
“I look forward to collaborating with our talented team and leveraging our collective expertise to help clients develop responsible AI standards and solve complex compliance challenges,” Stone said.
This is the latest example of Zaviant’s adoption of AI. Earlier this year, The company has joined Meta’s Open Loop consortiuma group of technology companies that come together to discuss AI best practices and provide feedback to the federal government.
SEI Hires Executive Vice President, Asset Management
Michael Lane to join Montgomery County-based global financial services firm SEI Next month, Lane will assume the role of executive vice president and chief asset management officer, leading SEI’s investment management teams and the growth of its advisory and institutional businesses.
With 35 years of experience in the financial services industry, Lane most recently served as Head of Ishares US Wealth Management Advisory at Blackrock. Prior to that, he held several positions at Dimensional Fund Advisors.
“Today’s investors expect an end-to-end connected experience tailored to their specific needs,” said Lane. “I’m excited to bring my experience to SEI.”
Sarah Huffman is a 2022-24 faculty member at Report for America, a Groundtruth Project initiative that pairs young journalists with local newsrooms. This position is supported by the Lenfest Institute for Journalism.
