Petronas, through its MPM division, announced a strategic partnership with ESA and Amazon Web Services (AWS) to advance the use of AI and machine learning (ML) technologies in Malaysia’s oil and gas sector.
The collaboration aims to accelerate exploration efforts in the Malaysian Basin and enhance the data capabilities of the Petronas myPROdata platform.
MPM Senior Vice President Datuk Ir. Bacho Pilong said: “These collaborations are key to strengthening Petronas’ commitment to innovation as we prepare for the Malaysia Bid Round (MBR) 2025.
“By leveraging advanced AI and ML capabilities, we aim to empower our investors and oil contractors with more data-rich insights and more streamlined processes, thereby enabling smarter decision-making and ensuring a more efficient and impactful offer cycle for all participants.
MPM’s partnership with ESA will focus on the development of AI-driven underground workflows using ESA’s EarthNET platform and Petronas myPROdata.
This initiative aims to boost the analysis and interpretation of subsurface data, ultimately optimizing hydrocarbon exploration in the mature Malay Basin, offshore the Malaysian Peninsula.
