There is no doubt that the technology industry is currently at Front End of a Massive Wave with Generative AI. This next level of generation AI will bring massive technological change, but business value is also an important topic of discussion.
It’s intoxicating to see the level of enthusiasm, according to CUBE Research executive analyst. John Furrier. However, some common sentiments resurface when it comes to business value.
“Show me the proof, show me the results, just a small victory. Maybe just a short win or a big win,” Furrier said. “At the same time, it accelerates and changes digital transformation, which we’ve talked about a lot with Persistent.”
Last year, Persistent Systems Ltd. partnered with Google Cloud to start a sequel of cloud-based generative AI solutions. HAS Next Google CloudPersistent systems describes what comes nextunveiling new AI partnerships and expanding AI-based innovations.
Analysts for theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s live streaming studio, spoke with Persistent Systems executives and partners on these partnerships and innovations during a special event, entitled “Accelerate innovation through persistence.” They explored how Persistent Systems is driving AI innovation and machine learning advancements across the Google Cloud ecosystem. (*Disclosure below.)
Here are three key pieces of information you may have missed in the Accelerate innovation through persistence event:
1. AI-driven business transformation is accelerating.
When it comes to business value, businesses recognize the need to leverage AI to obtain deeper insights and set strategic direction, depending on Caroline Yap (pictured, left), general manager of the global AI and applied engineering business at Google LLC. This idea came from conversations with about 1,000 customers around the world and typically begins with a question about a person’s business strategy for the next two to five years, Yap noted.
“So (I ask), ‘Should you say something to your shareholders because everyone wants you to use AI?'” she added. “Or can you just say, “Here are all the analytics, automation, and machine learning tasks we’ve already done that we can now accelerate results for because generative AI lets us query all our datasets more easily, to get the business value drivers you might need.
The conversation around digital transformation journeys can be divided into two eras: before and after the AI generation. What once seemed like fiction is now becoming reality, according to Ayon Banerjee (pictured, right), Director of Strategy and Growth at Persistent.
“I think from our perspective, and even though I speak for our entire industry, digital transformation was really about looking at a whole bunch of projects to digitize internal operations or create businesses digital natives,” Banerjee said. “It was almost like a long list of things.”
As AI becomes ubiquitous, it also becomes practical. This is no longer left to data scientists alone, he added.
“If you talk about the customer conversations we’re having today, it’s all about, ‘Look, I’m a retailer and I want to grow revenue, or I want to go to a completely different paradigm than a customer experience point of view. What is the solution ?’ ” said Banerjee.
However, it is not a question of wondering if we can recover a stack and work on modernizing a particular part of the cloud. The discourse is now starting to be more top-down than bottom-up, according to Banerjee.
“I think it’s a striking difference that we’re seeing,” he said.
It is also important to take into account data accessibility and design considerations. Relevant data sources need to be identified and strategies developed to effectively leverage structured, unstructured and synthetic data.
“It’s not just about data available to the enterprise or data available in a large-scale public language model,” Banerjee said. “All of this is going to happen because of structured/unstructured data and synthetic data…data is everywhere and that’s really where the future is.”

2. A deliberate data strategy is considered essential.
As organizations chart a path forward, strategic partnerships, robust data strategies and a holistic approach to technology integration are critical elements. Every business lacks data, which poses a crucial question, according to Ray Wangfounder and president of Constellation Research Inc.
“Do you have enough data to achieve a level of accuracy that your stakeholders will trust? We use this example often, like 85% accuracy in customer experience. We are very excited,” Wang said. “We’re like, great, this is going to be amazing, (but) 85% accuracy in the supply chain means you don’t have a manufacturing operation.”
Likewise, for example, 85% accuracy in financial matters means someone will go to jail, Wang noted. This is why businesses need to be specific.
“It’s really important to make sure you have small language models, very small language models to achieve that level of precision and data,” he said. “But start with the data you have, then combine with all other sources.”
When it comes to IT services, Constellation offers different types of advice. There are IT service providers that offer a full range of services, Wang noted.
“Then there is Persistent, which focuses on innovation, product development and engineering,” Wang said. “I don’t think of them as IT departments where you just hire people for time and materials. I think of them as people you go to to find an innovation partner. This is a bit like how we advise our clients.
Going forward, when customers have to think of their business almost as a system software layer with a bunch of new hardware, this has been a game changer. But while the world has been talking about the AI generation for the past 15 months, Persistent sees it as a tool in the toolbox, according to Banerjee.
“If you really think about the stack, the system is bigger than the AI,” he said. “AI is bigger than generative AI. You have to look at it from a systemic point of view to be able to really harness the full potential of this whole movement that’s happening right now.

3. Full ecosystem integration can improve AI effectiveness.
Amid all the excitement about AI, it’s often important to face reality and strategize how to unlock business value and drive innovation. Right now, there is great potential to move pilots and proofs of concept to production, but there is work to be done to get there, according to Lily McNealusdirector of outbound product management, cloud artificial intelligence, at Google LLC.
“Organizations that will be successful are those that have taken the time to identify the right use cases from the start,” McNealus said. “Organizations that just deploy agents or models without really thinking about the opportunity to drive business value will never see that ROI.”
For companies like DeepHealth Inc., AI-based technology is becoming considered the answer to solving radiology related queries. The company’s operating system is an ecosystem on which it can build all workspaces to improve efficiency for radiologists, clinical outcomes for radiologists, efficiency for technologists and much more, according to Madhu Jahagirdarvice president of cloud, technology and products at DeepHealth.
“Ideally, this would become a one-stop shop for (the) entire radiology industry,” Jahagirdar said.
The company has a partnership with Persistent and Google Cloud, which is important given the need to secure health data. Such partnerships are valuable in areas such as health care, especially given persistent security vulnerabilities in this area, according to Kamal Purisenior vice president at Persistent.
“We want to extend (security) to every cloud we operate in, taking best-in-class, whether that’s a model working on Azure or Google Cloud or on-premises in a data center ” said Puri. “We want to have the same security posture at all levels. »
