Getting started with secure data analysis Opaque Systems Inc. today launched a new platform designed to run artificial intelligence workloads on encrypted data that protects machine learning pipelines.
Announced during the second edition Confidential IT Summit, the new “Confidential AI Platform” supports machine learning pipelines as well as popular AI languages and frameworks, such as Python and Spark. The platform allows businesses to run a wide range of AI workloads, including SQL analysis and AI inference, on encrypted data without the need for re-engineering.
The platform seeks to address security and privacy concerns when it comes to implementing generative AI. Opaque claims that due to red tape and compliance requirements, company data is often trapped, with existing techniques, such as anonymization, proving error-prone and inadequate for many businesses.
As companies are forced to choose between AI-driven innovation and security, many have no choice but to choose security, preventing AI projects from coming to fruition. This is where Opaque’s Confidential AI Platform comes in.
“Businesses have long been forced to choose between data security and extracting value from their data. With Opaque, that dichotomy ends,” said general manager Aaron Fulkerson. “Our platform ensures complete data sovereignty while enabling seamless deployment of AI workloads, unlocking business insights securely and efficiently – often enabling the use of sensitive data that previously could not be used.
The capabilities offered by the new platform extend to Opaque’s existing services to facilitate secure collaboration with cryptographic privacy verification. The features enable organizations across industries to access sensitive data, produce richer insights, and drive tangible business value by enabling AI workloads to be deployed on data while encrypted, says the company.
The Confidential AI Platform can address several industrial use cases. In high-tech, it secures data pipelines for analytics and machine learning workloads, preserving privacy and enabling dynamic model training on encrypted customer data. Financial services can also benefit from secure data sharing and collaboration across business units and partners.
Manufacturers can use the platform to enforce data governance rules and maintain policies, privacy and data sovereignty. In HR, the platform enables secure sharing and analysis of employee data across silos, supporting recruitment, retention, compensation and talent development while ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations. data such as the European Union General Data Protection Regulation.
