Samsung appears fully committed to its new AI strategy for mobile devices, TVs and other consumer electronics, such as the Custom made double. Galaxy AIwhich debuted on the Galaxy S24 series running A 6.1 user interface, seems to have had a lot of success, or at least attracted a lot of attention. And things will only continue to move in the direction of AI from here on out.
The next foldable Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 should push AI even further. They should come with a new version of Samsung’s proprietary Android interface, One UI 6.1.1, and the latter should bring new AI features. None have been confirmed, but a new rumor claims to have solved an important piece of the AI puzzle.
Samsung to launch video AI features this year
One of the major AI-related innovations that Samsung is reportedly releasing via the One UI 6.1.1 update is Video AI (via @UniverseIce). It is unclear how the video AI features will be implemented.
The existing Galaxy AI suite already uses an artificial intelligence component for Instant slow motion functionwhich allows (some) Galaxy device users to play videos at a slower frame rate through the Gallery app.
In theory, a more ambitious approach to implementing video AI on Galaxy devices via One UI 6.1.1 would be something similar to OpenAI Sora. The latter is an AI model developed by OpenAI that can generate videos according to user prompts. It’s similar to generative photos, except it’s focused on video creation.
If the rumor is correct and One UI 6.1.1 will bring video AI functionality, it remains to be seen being seen which path Samsung will take, what this AI feature can accomplish, and how it could improve the Galaxy user experience.
One UI 6.1.1 should work immediately on the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. Both foldable phones expected to be revealed at Unpacked beginning of July.
Earlier today, Samsung and Google revealed exciting new AI features and the experiences that the two companies are working on through a “a partnership that has never been stronger.”
