Human response continues to be valuable in responding to cybersecurity incidents, as indicated by the mitigation of an attempted water poisoning attack at the Oldsmar Water Treatment Facility, in Florida, following an immediate report from a plant operator, Department of Energy Senior Cybersecurity Advisor for Policy and Programs Amy Hamilton said at a University Research Center for Advanced Technology event .
General Services Administration cybersecurity advisor Alyssa Feola also noted that fully automating the cyber workforce could harm security.
“We need these people to do this work. We’re not going to automate the elimination of these jobs, because it’s going to take people to do the work, and I think that’s really what’s most important.” Feola said.
