Nokia partners with Lenovo to modernize data center networking for AI and machine learning workloads.
The collaboration will merge Lenovo’s businesses Think System AI-ready servers and storage with Nokia’s data center networking solution, including its recently launched solution Event-driven automation (EDA). This integration targets enterprises, telecom operators and cloud service providers looking for robust infrastructure for compute-intensive operations.
At the heart of this partnership is the growing demand for AI model training and inference capabilities. The alliance addresses the critical need for secure, high-speed interconnectivity between data centers and edge locations, where AI clusters require seamless networking both internally and across distributed locations.
The joint solution introduces a validated model architecture that promises enhanced observability and programmability, essential capabilities for adapting to dynamic workload demands. Both companies have placed emphasis on the security aspects of their offering, integrating real-time threat detection and prevention mechanisms to combat increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks.
Sustainability plays a crucial role in the partnership value proposition. The solution leverages energy-efficient designs to reduce energy consumption and operational costs, addressing one of the most pressing concerns of modern data center operations.
Charles Ferland, Vice President of Edge and CSP at Lenovo, said: “Lenovo has a long-standing commitment to providing the most reliable and sustainable AI infrastructure. Our partnership with Nokia to bring together AI solutions is a natural alignment.
“Together, we provide a robust platform that meets the needs of the telecommunications and enterprise sectors, enabling them to deploy AI clouds and efficiently manage their data. »
Partnership also introduces Lenovo solutions Neptune liquid cooling technology alongside Nokia’s automated data structure, creating what the companies claim is a cutting-edge sustainable infrastructure solution.
Vach Kompella, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Nokia’s IP Networks business, commented: “Our partnership with Lenovo demonstrates Nokia’s commitment to innovation and excellence in data center solutions.
“By combining Nokia’s Data Center Fabric and Event Driven Automation with Lenovo’s ThinkSystem AI portfolio, we deliver a high-performance, scalable data center networking solution designed to effectively manage and automate AI/ML workloads. »
This collaboration comes at a crucial time when organizations around the world are grappling with the infrastructure requirements of implementing AI. Nokia and Lenovo aim to capitalize on the growing market for AI-ready data center solutions.
