More than half of long-form English-language posts on LinkedIn are likely generated using artificial intelligence, new data reveals.
According to a new analysis from AI detection startup Originality AI published in WIRED, 54% of LinkedIn premium subscribers chose to use the Microsoft-owned social media site’s in-house AI writing tools to “rewrite” posts, profiles, and direct messages.
The study was based on a sample of 8,795 public LinkedIn posts of more than 100 words published between January 2018 and October 2024.
According to LinkedIn executives, the AI writing tool was rarely used until early 2023. “The uptick happened when ChatGPT came out,” said Jon Gillham, CEO of Originality.
“We view AI as a tool that can help revise a draft or solve the problem of blank pages, but it’s the original thoughts and ideas our members share that matter. »
Recently, a woman behind an AI company distributed to big city schools was arrested for fraud.
The AI debate also seeped into Hollywood after Ben Affleck caused a stir by advocating for the use of technology helping with the filmmaking process.
