Microsoft shared its growth in AI innovation this year and it has been “truly remarkable.”
In October this year, cancer research center Institut Curie partnered with Microsoft and Witivio to build Copilot for Researcher. AI gives researchers a helping hand with tasks such as managing administrative burden so they have more time for crucial cancer research.
Siemens and Thyssenkrupp collaborated with Microsoft on the development of the Siemens Industrial Copilot. It was powered by Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI service and designed to address the skills gap in the manufacturing industry. Engineers used the copilot to program and operate machines, improving productivity and reducing human error.
“At first I only spoke to him in English, but today I discovered that he speaks German quite well” said Marcus Schoenherr, engineer at ThyssenKrupp.
In education, Shiksha, an AI-powered smart tool, was introduced by Sikshana Foundation and Microsoft Research India. The tool helps teachers in Karnataka plan their lessons in just a few minutes. This significantly reduces preparation time, allowing teachers to spend more time communicating with students.
“I spend the time gained through Shiksha with the children,” said Ravindra K. Nagaiah, a teacher from Karnataka.
Additionally, AI also improves the tourist experience in Rome. The city has a virtual assistant called Julia who helps visitors find their way to attractions and reduces crowds at popular spots.
AI also helps Indonesian shrimp farmers keep their shrimp healthy. A local startup called eFishery has created an AI assistant that checks water conditions and makes sure shrimp in ponds are okay.
In South Africa, Eduvos used Microsoft’s Dynamics 365 and Azure to streamline its student registration process, reducing the 90-day turnaround time to almost instantaneous. This transformation allowed the institution to save time and costs.
These examples show how AI helps solve real-world problems and improve lives in different areas. Microsoft continues to lead the way, ensuring that AI remains important to innovation around the world.
