Meta continues to invest in Messenger with a greater focus on video features sprinkled with AI technology.
Meta has rolled out a significant update to Messenger, which brings several features designed to improve enhanced audio and video calls. This update responds to user feedback, focusing on better calling experiences and more personalized features to improve overall communication.
AI backgrounds in video calls
Among the new features, we can generate the background of the video call with the help of AI. Users can now set images on the background created by artificial intelligence. This feature makes using the app interesting as the background can be changed with any location like a beach or a ruined city at night. For ease, users simply need to click on the effects icon in the video call sidebar and then opt for the “Backgrounds” option.
HD video calls
Messenger now supports HD video calls which will be automatically enabled when using a Wi-Fi connection. For cellular data users, HD video can be configured in call settings. This improvement should help users get clearer visuals during a call and make the conversation more immersive.
Noise cancellation and voice isolation
For even better call clarity, Messenger has added background noise cancellation and voice isolation. These tools help reduce background noise so that call audio is transmitted more clearly. These settings can be enabled by users using the call settings menu. This feature is particularly useful in noisy environments where propulsive communication can be easily affected.
Audio and video messages
In addition to live calling improvements, Messenger now allows users to record voice or video messages for the recipient in a situation where the recipient is unreachable. At the end of each call, a user can leave a message by pressing the “Save Message” button. This ensures a way to deliver a message if interaction is not possible at the time of the call.
Hands-free calling with Siri
For iPhone users, there is Messenger integration with Siri so that a user can make calls or send messages just by using their voice. People can speak to the voice assistant like “Hey Siri, send a message to (contact) on Messenger”, meaning people can send messages without physically touching their devices.
