By 2027, more than half of chefs data and analysis (CDAO) will obtain funding for data control and AI literacy programs, fueled by the organization’s failure to realize the expected value of generative AI (GenAI), according to Gartner, Inc.
Few organizations are currently implementing AI literacy programs, the analytics firm found.
While AI skills and capabilities focus on highly technical roles, the status of AI is rapidly evolving as industry leaders begin to realize the importance of a workforce proficient in data, analytics and AI,” said Melissa Davis, vice president analyst at Gartner.
“To build such a workforce, organizations need data literacy and artificial intelligence as core skills. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills could decline as AI natives become more reliant on AI for information and decision-making, reducing their need to analyze situations independently.
Improve your mastery of data and AI
GenAI solutions are less reliable due to the complexity and opacity of current algorithms and models, as well as the fact that the information used to power the models is not properly organized.
This is why CDAOs must invest in their people to create strong data, analytics, and AI. SKILLS. Without these skills, AI will fail to deliver the expected value and could introduce additional points of failure.

“Improving data and AI literacy is key to identifying relevant, value-added AI use cases,” Davis said. “Yet turning the general promise of AI into concrete business impact requires close collaboration between business stakeholders and AI experts, which requires common ground in terms of understanding the main concepts of AI and realistic expectations of what AI can and cannot do.
“Organizations need to assess the AI readiness of their staff, both in data and AI knowledge, and be honest about whether staff have the skills needed to take advantage of AI techniques ” said Davis.
“For any planned area of investment in GenAI technology or AI use case implementation, organizations should fund corresponding data and AI training as a core capability of the workforce -work. »
