WTF?! AI tools like ChatGPT have increased productivity for many. However, it can also be counterintuitive to often require users to interrupt their workflow and copy-paste prompts – a process that can be downright clunky. Get ready to say goodbye to these frustrations because Logitech has concocted a mouse with a dedicated AI button.
The new Signature AI Edition mouse is essentially an upgraded version of the popular Signature M750. It’s practically the same package, but it contains an additional button that launches the Logi AI Prompt Builder application, powered by none other than ChatGPT.
The idea is rather clever. Instead of having to switch apps or open a new window, Prompt Builder overlays itself directly onto whatever you’re working on. Do you need to write an email but are having trouble finding the right words? Hit that AI button, describe what you need in a few words, and let ChatGPT work its magic.
Logitech has preloaded a number of handy “recipes” to get you started. There are options for rephrasing, summarizing, and adjusting the tone from academic to playful. You can obviously also specify the word count, so ChatGPT knows whether you need a short blurb or an epic short story.
Once the AI has made its suggestion, simply paste the text into your document and edit it as necessary.
Of course, a mouse is just one way to integrate AI assistance. Earlier this year, Microsoft announced the creation of a dedicated “Copilot” button in new PCs and Surface devices, also leveraging OpenAI technology. But Logitech’s approach has one big advantage: It’s designed to work with any app on Windows or Mac.
At $49.99, the AI Mouse isn’t exactly an impulse buy. But Logitech has also made this feature available via an update to its Logi Options+ softwarecompatible with a range of its keyboards and mice, including the MX, Ergo, Signature and Studio series.
THE Signature AI Edition Mouse launches in the US and UK next month. You have to ask yourself, what is the next access point? Maybe a pair of AI-enabled headphones with a voice command hotkey?
