PIERRE, SD (Dakota News Now) – Attorney General Marty Jackley joined 25 other attorneys general in calling on the Federal Communications Commission to restrict the use of artificial intelligence by telemarketers.
In November, the FCC issued a notice of investigation into the potential ability of AI technologies to “act as the functional equivalent of a real-world agent.”
Most robocalls made using artificial or prerecorded voices are prohibited unless the caller obtains written consent from the consumer.
“These calls manipulate consumers by sounding like a real person,” Jackley said. “Fraudsters are always looking for ways to harm consumers, and the federal government must take action. »
