New Delhi: Faced with increasing cyber threat incidents, the country must continually modernize itself cyber security measures to address new vulnerabilities and dynamic threat landscapes, the government said.
State-sponsored hacking threats are on the rise across the world, including in India.
According to the professor Ajay Kumar SoodThe government’s chief scientific adviser says it is time to step up successful projects such as hardware security testing and post-quantum cryptography.
Speaking at the Society for Electronic Transactions and Security Foundation Day (SETS) in Chennai, Sood encouraged SETS to deepen its collaboration with industry, R&D labs and academia to ensure quantum security of the country’s IT and communications infrastructure.
Sood also inaugurated the Quantum security Research laboratory on occasion.
Conceived by former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam in 2002, SETS is a cybersecurity R&D organization that pursues research in the fundamental areas of cybersecurity, cryptology, hardware security, quantum security and security networks.
According to Dr Parvinder Maini, Scientific Secretary, these advances are crucial for SETS to effectively address cybersecurity challenges and develop robust solutions.
Dr Mhaveni also highlighted SETS’ involvement in cutting-edge projects including AI for Cybersecurity under the National Supercomputing Mission.
She affirmed the importance of standards-based development for international collaborations in areas such as quantum communication and 6G.
Dr Sanjay Bahl, Director General, Computer Emergency Response Team-India (CERT-In), mentioned the evolving cybersecurity concerns in the context of AI, proliferation of Internet of Things (IoT) and drones.
He urged SETS to develop a roadmap to address these challenges and develop innovative solutions.
