The Chief Information Security Officers Group (ISOG) organized the second edition of ISOG 2024 on September 5 at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM). Building on the success of the first event in June, ISOG organized this follow-up to meet the demand for additional learning opportunities within the cybersecurity community.
Attended by hundreds of cybersecurity professionals, the event included a keynote address by Colonel Francel Margareth Padilla-Taborlupa, Spokesperson of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and 2023 Woman Cybersecurity Leader of the Year. Her speech, “ Preparing for the New Battle: Defending Against AI-Driven Cyberattacks,” highlighted the importance of working together to address emerging threats across the digital landscape.
“Everyone has an interest in cybersecurity. We make all our own efforts to secure our cyber domain. We want to have an umbrella unit that will bring together all of our cybersecurity efforts, because there are no barriers to cybersecurity. If every Filipino becomes very aware of cybersecurity, it is like we are holding hands to form a cybersecurity barrier,” Col. Taborlupa said.
Guest speaker Jovelyn Hao, deputy director of the Fintech Innovation and Policy Research Group (FIPRG) and Technology Risk and Innovation Supervision Department (TRISD) in Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, shared her expertise through a presentation on machine learning applications using generative AI in the Philippines. Banks.
“The use of AI should aim to augment human capabilities rather than replacing them. As we continue to promote innovation in financial services, we have the task of ensuring the right combination of human and machine elements,” said Hao.
The event also served as a valuable networking platform, providing attendees with the opportunity to connect and exchange ideas through a dynamic and fast-paced networking session. This activity facilitated rapid, focused interactions among cybersecurity professionals, allowing them to share expertise, discuss emerging trends, and explore potential collaborations.
Following the networking session, attendees attended a series of informative symposium presentations led by representatives of the event sponsors. Each session featured cutting-edge advancements in AI-driven cybersecurity, presented by industry experts from leading enterprises.
