New Delhi: The central government has announced that it will host the Global IndiaAI Summit this week, which aims to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange. The event underscores India’s commitment to the ethical and inclusive development of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.
The summit, to be held on July 3-4 in the national capital, will host member countries and experts with India being the lead chair of the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI), the Ministry of Information Technology said in a statement.
The summit is expected to provide a platform for leading international AI experts from science, industry, civil society, governments, international organizations and academia to share their views on key AI issues and challenges.
“The event underscores the government’s commitment to the responsible advancement of AI, by fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among global AI players,” the Ministry of Information Technology said.
Last December, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the GPAI New Delhi Declaration was unanimously adopted by 28 countries.
The declaration aims to exploit new opportunities and mitigate risks arising from the development, deployment and use of AI. The GPAI has ensured that AI becomes a kinetic tool for millions of people, with clear and accountable safeguards.
According to the government, the IndiaAI mission aims to build a comprehensive ecosystem that fosters AI innovation by democratising access to computing, improving data quality, developing indigenous AI capabilities, attracting top AI talent, enabling industry collaboration, providing early-stage venture capital, ensuring socially impactful AI projects and promoting ethical AI.
“This mission promotes responsible and inclusive growth of the Indian AI ecosystem through the following seven pillars which will be at the core of the Global IndiaAI Summit,” the IT Ministry said.
