To mark Cybersecurity Awareness Month (October), research has revealed that businesses are now increasingly using AI for cybersecurity and fraud management – with half of them doing so.
Despite this, figures show that more Brits think there are more risks (28%) than those who see more benefits (14%) to AI, misuse of personal data (72%) being the main concern.

Rob Harlow, Director of Innovation at Soprocomments on how businesses can use AI without alienating customers:
“The integration of artificial intelligence into businesses offers excellent potential to improve efficiency, personalization, decision-making, and much more. However, successfully using AI requires a thoughtful approach to balancing its benefits with the risks of it not being used correctly or being overused.
“To get the most out of AI without alienating customers, businesses must balance digital tools and human insight. AI can handle data-intensive tasks and initial customer interactions. However, humans need to stay on top of complex decision-making and deeper customer engagement. This balance ensures efficiency without sacrificing the human touch that customers often appreciate.
“Furthermore, AI is not a set-it-and-forget-it solution. Regularly review and adjust AI systems to respond to new data, changing market conditions, and customer feedback to ensure they remain relevant and effective.
You can also make AI less intimidating for your customers by explaining how it works and the benefits it brings, particularly when it comes to cybersecurity. Highlighting cases where AI has added value can shift the perception of AI as a basic or invasive tool towards one as a sophisticated and beneficial tool.
“By implementing these strategies, businesses can harness the power of AI to streamline operations and improve the customer experience through true personalization.” With a thoughtful approach combining the best of digital and human resources, businesses can use AI not only as a tool, but also as a means for sustainable growth and customer satisfaction.
