The technology industry is going through a phase of transformation driven by advances in artificial intelligence, a increased focus on cybersecurity and the desire to continually innovate.
To keep up with this technology boom, businesses must adopt robust security measures, leverage artificial intelligence for advanced analytics and operational efficiency, and foster environments that encourage continuous innovation. These include government entities, which must adhere to a multitude of regulations and policies.
“Our job is to advise CISA and other government agencies within the U.S. government on cybersecurity policy,” said Kristen Vederame (pictured), vice president of government relations at NetApp Inc. “We have more than 150 technology companies that are members of all sizes, flavors, shapes and sizes. There are certain things we can or cannot do. We have cost constraints. We have business plans that are all unique to all of these tech companies, and technology limits us sometimes too. Sometimes we might say, “We literally can’t do this from a technology standpoint,” so our job is to work with CISA to find a win-win solution.
Védérame spoke with the CUBEs Rob Strechay And Rebecca Chevalier At NetApp Unveils Unified Data Storage Built for AI Era Event, in an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s live streaming studio. They discussed how NetApp works with government entities, the company’s data security solutions, and security best practices and innovations. (*Disclosure below.)
Government Collaboration Strengthens NetApp’s Commitment to Innovation and Security
NetApp is known for having a strong and positive culture, which helps it nurture various relationships and help its partners overcome various challenges, according to Vederame.
“We are partners with everyone. We are integrated with all three hyperscalers. We are interoperable with almost any system. So we will work with anyone,” she said. “We will do it in the cloud. We will do it in a hybrid way. We will do it on site. We will do a combination. We will do it with whoever you want. So we go to governments and help them with their major initiatives, which is part of our culture.
Working directly with government is very different from working with private industries. On the one hand, they all want to be the first to regulate AIas ethics and data privacy issues emerge, according to Vederame.
“There’s national security, not just hackers around the world, cybercriminals, but we have nation states going after all of us,” she said. “Many factors push governments to innovate. My goal is to say, “How can we make it easier for you?” »
