Google has kicked its artificial intelligence (AI) developments into high gear as it embarks on the next stage of its Gemini era. Since its inception in December last year, Gemini, which is Google’s most successful AI model, has made significant progress, integrating AI into a variety of Google services to make them increasingly useful to users.
Some of the key announcements reflecting Google’s ambitious AI plans include the adoption of the Gemini name to replace Bard. The change aims to reflect the cutting-edge technology embedded at the heart of the product. Additionally, Gemini will be widely available on multiple platforms. It will support 40 languages on the web and will be accessible through a new Gemini app for Android in addition to the Google app on iOS devices.
The company is preparing to roll out Gemini to Android and iOS phones in the United States, initially in English, starting immediately. A large-scale launch is also planned in Singapore in the coming weeks. The move is seen as an important step toward bringing the benefits of Google’s AI innovations to a global audience.
Google also introduced the highly anticipated Gemini Advanced, offering a new, more immersive and high-performance AI experience. This development gives users access to Ultra 1.0, the company’s most comprehensive and advanced AI model. Famous for its exceptional mastery of complex tasks such as coding, logical reasoning, understanding complex instructions, and collaborating on creative projects, Gemini Advanced is expected to revolutionize the AI experience for users.
Gemini Advanced allows for more extensive and detailed conversations. It transforms into a personal tutor, an assistant for advanced coding tasks, and an assistant for digital creators looking to turn their ideas into tangible creations. The new offering will be available as part of the new Google One AI Premium plan, priced at $19.99 per month, after a two-month trial available for free.
Expanding Gemini integration, Duet AI will soon adopt Gemini for Google Workspace and Google Cloud. In the near future, consumers on the Google One AI Premium plan will be able to use Gemini’s exceptional capabilities in Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides and Meet.
The enthusiasm was palpable from the teams behind the product, as evidenced by CEO Sundar Pichai’s blog post detailing the exciting era of Gemini and Sissie Hsiao’s blog post (VP/GM, Gemini Experiences and Google Assistant ) on the new Gemini name, the Gemini app and the very advanced Gemini Advanced.
Google’s commitment to harnessing Gemini’s AI capabilities is expected to push the boundaries of what is achievable, integrating high-level artificial intelligence into the daily lives of its users around the world. Today, Google is one of the largest and most influential technology companies in the world, offering a wide range of products and services beyond its original search engine, including Gmail, Google Maps, Google Drive and the Android operating system, among others.
