Dell has focused on artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity and data for better business development.
This was the central theme of the “Innovate with Data Summit”, organized by Dell in Lagos.
The summit, themed: “AI Anywhere Data Everywhere,” listed the importance of data in digital transformation in the AI era, saying: “Innovation is thinking about future and fill the gaps and those gaps that need to be filled. with data.
In his keynote address, Abdelmoultssin Sarsri, Dell Technologies Regional Director for Central West Africa, said Dell Technologies’ strategy enables businesses to accelerate digital transformation, from ideas to innovation .
He said: “Innovation is more important than ever in today’s rapidly changing landscape, any idea, big or small, can improve efficiency, productivity and growth. »
According to him, a study conducted in 2023 called the “Innovation Index”, aimed at determining how organizations were innovating after the ascendancy created by the pandemic, found that innovation leaders and adopters were innovating in three areas: people, processes and technology.
He said: “At Dell Technologies, we believe that innovation is the engine that transforms and moves your organization forward and it starts with your people and their ideas and is filled with data. With Dell Technologies as your innovation enabler, you can quickly move from ideas to innovation.
Hani Khalaf, Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Data and AI Solutions, Dell Technologies CEEMETA Region, said: “In AI, you need three things to succeed: the fuel, the engine and the driver . The fuel is the data, the engine, the computer, and the drivers, the algorithms and the expertise.
According to Khalaf, AI has been around for a very long time. “In November 2022, something destructive happened, called the “iPhone moment” in AI, which caused the emergence of ChatGPT and the world started talking about generative AI. Generative AI is a disruptive technology because it involves creating new texts, new content, new videos and even new audios”
He also explained that if generative AI is done poorly, there could be a loss of intellectual property, a loss of credibility and integrity.
According to Khalaf, the potential of generative AI helps reveal potential opportunities for customers to extract and produce value from existing data, in terms of accelerating business operations, automating sales and marketing, advancements in health science, drug research and discovery, and billions of dollars in conversion. “cold” data indicates a high value.
