Databricks, a unified data analytics provider, introduced DBRX, a pioneering platform poised to democratize enterprise artificial intelligence (AI). DBRX, built entirely on Databricks, allows businesses to create custom, high-performance Large Language Models (LLMs), freeing them from dependence on closed models.
“At Databricks, our vision has always been to democratize data and AI,” said Ali Ghodsi, co-founder and CEO of Databricks. “We do this by providing data insights to every company, helping them understand and use their private data to build their own AI systems. DBRX is the result of this goal.
Ghodsi highlighted three main reasons why businesses should consider DBRX. First, it outperformed open source models at launch in terms of industry-leading benchmarks. Second, it outperforms GPT-3.5 on most benchmarks, signaling a paradigm shift as organizations move from proprietary to open source models. And third, DBRX’s use of a mixed-expert architecture makes it exceptionally fast in terms of tokens per second, while remaining cost-effective to mine, setting a new standard for open source LLMs.
