The data analytics industry is rapidly transforming as cloud integration, artificial intelligence and machine learning revolutionize data management and business decision-making.
Companies are moving more and more analysis operations to the cloud, benefiting from its scalability and cost-effectiveness. Concrete applications, from improving the customer experience to optimizing internal workflows, demonstrate the tangible impacts of these advances. As businesses adopt these innovations, the demand for robust, community-based platforms, such as those offered by Alteryx Inc., is more critical than ever.
“People store data everywhere, especially unstructured data when they do RAG or other things,” said Rob Strechay (pictured, right), Managing Director and Principal Analyst at theCUBE Research. “When they start to create workflows that access the data and how you actually bring the data together…and how those partners, whether they’re the GSIs, the SIs and the VAR community, can really help bring that data to life . .”
Strechay spoke with a fellow analyst from theCUBE Rebecca Chevalier (left to Alteryx inspires, in an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s live streaming studio. They discussed how Alteryx tools are being used to drive efficiency and innovation across various industries, paving the way for a data-driven future. (*Disclosure below.)
Alteryx Inspire Highlights
Alteryx’s cloud platform offers a wide range of products, as evidenced by how it connects to traditional design tools on laptops. Some of the highlights of the event included detailed demonstrations of these new features, particularly around AI and machine learning.
“When you start to look back, they really have a very loyal following, a very great sense of community,” Strechay said. “There was a lot of discussion about how people were using this to get into AI and ML. It was not only about Generation AI, but there were also many announcements about Generation AI.
The integration of these technologies into the cloud platform was presented through real-world applications, such as the use case presented by DoorDash Inc. DoorDash’s innovative application of Alteryx tools earned the company an award highlighting the practical benefits and efficiency gains of these technologies.
“They did a fantastic job with the demos…with DoorDash and showing how to get and use that data in a created use case,” Strechay said. “I think in the second part of the speech, they… saw DoorDash winning an award for its use.”
Practical Applications and Industry Impact in Data Analytics
According to Strechay, there was a clear focus on practical applications of the tools available in various industries. A growing trend is moving analytical processes to the cloud, which provides scalability and cost-effectiveness. Alteryx demonstrated how its cloud-based solutions can streamline data management and analysis workflows, making it easier for businesses to gain actionable insights.
“I thought they really hit the cloud team… in a practical way, rather than an over-the-top way,” he said.
One of the key messages was the importance of leveraging metadata in analysis. The ability to use SQL for metadata management instead of traditional on-premises solutions, such as MongoDB, was touted as a significant advancement. This change improves the efficiency of data analysis processes, enabling better connectivity and data integration across different platforms.
“You can actually use SQL to persist your metadata, which we know from an analytics perspective is the crown jewel of your analytics, it’s really about how it connects everything together,” Strechay said.
