Cyber Security Malaysia (CSM)The national cybersecurity agency under the Malaysian Ministry of Digital Affairs has signed an agreement with a Singaporean artificial intelligence (AI) security company FlexxonMalaysian Cybersecurity Company IA MSP to bring smart hardware security solutions to Malaysia.
Flexxon said in a statement on Wednesday that CSM has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Flexxon and AI MSP with the aim of establishing a comprehensive framework for cooperation in digital transformation and the introduction of hardware-based preventive AI cybersecurity solutions.
This collaboration aims to strengthen the country’s cybersecurity capabilities and develop new methodologies and tools to protect against evolving cyber threats.
“This MoU signifies a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening Malaysia’s cybersecurity framework, a key area of focus in our evolving data-driven digital economy,
“By leveraging Flexxon’s innovative hardware security solutions, we can improve our national resilience against cyber threats and foster a safer digital environment for our citizens,” said Haji Amirudin Bin Abdul Wahab, Managing Director of CSM.
It is worth noting that Flexxon is a global leader in AI-based hardware security solutions, while AI MSP is an information technology (IT) and cybersecurity company that offers Flexxon’s X-PHY AI cybersecurity solutions and professional services in Malaysia.
“Working with forward-thinking, like-minded organizations that embrace innovation is critical to staying ahead of cybercriminals who have continued to exploit traditional security methods,
“This partnership underscores our commitment to providing industry-leading hardware security solutions that protect critical infrastructure and the vast data network. Together, we aim to set new standards in cybersecurity,” said Camellia Chan, CEO of Flexxon.
Kevin Lim, CTO of AI MSP, also said that AI MSP is committed to improving security standards by implementing proactive measures to respond to emerging cyber threats.
“Our collaboration with Flexxon and CSM builds a bridge for the integration of advanced AI-based hardware solutions, furthering our goal of providing holistic and effective security solutions across Malaysia,” he added.
According to the statement, the synergistic partnership aims to enable the rapid adoption of Flexxon’s cutting-edge cybersecurity technologies within the Malaysian government and to foster capacity building in information technology and information security across the country.
Key activities include organizing and participating in cybersecurity awareness events, training programs, and service initiatives to promote cybersecurity awareness and best practices.
It is worth noting that Flexxon has been the first to develop AI-integrated hardware security solutions since it unveiled the X-PHY Solid State Drive (SSD) in 2021 – the world’s first AI-powered cybersecurity SSD.
Its solutions rely on memory support to proactively and autonomously detect and respond to cyber threats, including zero-day threats, ransomware and physical intrusions.
It has since expanded its growing portfolio of patented solutions to include the X-PHY Cybersecurity Laptops, X-PHY Server Defender and X-PHY Vault.
It is also notable that Malaysia is increasingly placing importance on cybersecurity to protect its digital infrastructure and data, with its latest Cybersecurity Bill passed in Parliament on March 25, 2024.
The bill includes provisions such as the establishment of the National Cybersecurity Committee, licensing of cybersecurity service providers and enforcement provisions.
CSM’s timely collaboration with Flexxon and AI MSP aligns with the nation’s strategic objectives, addressing the urgent need for advanced security measures in the face of growing cyber threats, the statement said.
He noted that by integrating Flexxon’s AI-based X-PHY hardware solutions, Malaysia aims to enhance its defensive capabilities, ensuring a secure and resilient digital future for its citizens and industries.
Founded in 2007, Flexxon is a global company specializing in next-generation hardware cybersecurity solutions and industrial NAND flash storage devices.
