China Media Group’s (CMG) upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival will be held at the scenic Dingxiang Lake Park in Shenyang, northeast China. Organizers are promising a breathtaking blend of tradition and cutting-edge technology that is set to dazzle viewers.
The grand spectacle will take place on September 17, the night of the Mid-Autumn Festival, and the host city of Shenyang promises a stunning backdrop for the annual televised celebration of the CMG.
CMG’s technical teams claim to have integrated revolutionary artificial intelligence to improve the overall quality of the program and offer a visual feast to the audience.
“During the production process of this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival Gala, China Media Group Technology Office used AI technology to help create the program. This approach highlighted the profound meaning of the gala through multiple dimensions, including art, culture and emotion. For example, we integrated AI technology with cultural relics to tell stories in our programs,” said Feng Yi, head of the CMG AI design and production team.
The CMG will also use advanced broadcast technologies to ensure an exciting viewing experience during the gala, crew members said.
“Our broadcast truck is equipped with full 4K capabilities and has also been equipped with 8K cameras. Eventually, viewers will be able to experience the gala on 8K big screens,” said Ye Liangxian, a technician with the CMG’s transmission department.
First broadcast in 1991 by China Central Television (CCTV), now a subsidiary of CMG, the gala has become an annual fixture on television screens across China and watched by the Chinese diaspora around the world. This year’s celebration will combine a dynamic display of cultural art with the latest technological innovations, creating a memorable experience for audiences around the world.
The Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated on the night the moon reaches its peak and maximum brightness, the 15th day of the eighth month of the Chinese lunar calendar.
During the festival, family members from all over China gather together, share traditional mooncakes and light lanterns to enjoy their family reunion.
Seychelles President Wavel Ramkalawan has welcomed Chinese support for the development of African nations while expressing optimism about the future of trade and tourism between China and the island country.
Ramkalawan made the comments during his visit to southwest China’s Sichuan Province from September 5 to 7 after attending the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) summit in Beijing.
In Sichuan, Ramkalawan visited a major power generator manufacturer, the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding and several scenic spots in the province.
In an exclusive interview with China Global Television Network (CGTN), Ramkalawan said he was deeply impressed by the development of Chengdu, capital of Sichuan.
He expressed his great hope that the new direct charter flight connecting Chengdu and Seychelles, scheduled to open in November, will greatly improve tourism and trade between the two countries.
“We want to receive Chinese visitors. And we have missed you for a few years. So now we are coming back to tell the Chinese visitors: ‘Come to Seychelles, you will be warmly welcomed.’ And this will also improve tourism, of course, but with the direct flight, I can see business opportunities. We will be able to export some of our products, like fresh fish products. And on the other hand, I am sure that businessmen from Chengdu, Sichuan, will be able to explore new opportunities,” Ramkalawan said.
Ramkalawan is optimistic about the intensification of cooperation between China and African countries, especially since Chinese President Xi Jinping has proposed to elevate bilateral relations between China and all African countries that have diplomatic ties with China to the level of strategic relations.
Xi Jinping made the proposal in a speech at the opening ceremony of the 2024 FOCAC summit.
“The FOCAC summit was a success, an absolute success. And China will remain Africa’s biggest partner. China has been and will be. Because China has shown interest, not only in helping African countries, but also in seeing how to help African countries explore and develop on their own. So the agenda has been further strengthened, with all African countries that have bilateral relations with the People’s Republic of China moving to a higher level. We now have what is called a strategic partnership agreement. And that basically means that China and Seychelles have agreed to continue working together on the basis of mutual respect,” Ramkalawan said.
Ramkalawan said the friendship between China and Seychelles will continue to flourish, setting a positive example for other nations in maintaining diplomatic relations.
