The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 is currently taking place in Las Vegas from January 9-12. CES is an annual technology show where innovators and technology companies showcase their latest advancements in various fields such as healthcare, AI, gaming, robotics, and more. Owned and produced by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), the show began in 1967 in New York as a biannual event until the late 1990s.
Let’s take a look at some of the main attractions at this year’s show:
Motion pillow
The Motion Pillow is an innovative sleep aid that uses AI motion technology to solve snoring problems and provide better sleep. It detects a user’s snoring and sleeping habits and inflates the airbags to raise the head, making it easier to sleep. The pillow comes with an app that tracks sleep data, and there is also a Motion Ring that monitors sleep status in real time and sends it to the motion system.
AI device
The Rabbit R1 is an AI-powered wearable device that performs in-app actions on your behalf. It uses a large-scale action model to perform tasks such as ordering food or taxis. By pressing the “Push-to-Talk” button, the Rabbit operating system activates and begins listening to prompts. The device aims to consolidate the functions of multiple applications into a single portable device.
Transparent television
LG OLED T is the world’s first wireless transparent TV with 4K resolution. It works with the company’s Zero Connect Box, which sends video and audio wirelessly to the TV. Samsung also introduced a transparent MicroLED panel that displays bright and sharp images using high pixel density micro LEDs. However, Samsung’s MicroLED demo is not yet ready for the consumer market.
Gyroglove
Medical technology startup GyroGear has launched the Gyroglove, a hand-stabilizing glove to help people suffering from hand tremors. At CES 2024, the product was demonstrated by having a person with Parkinson’s disease wear the glove and write their name while holding a pen.
Smart indoor smoker
The GE Profile Smart Indoor Smoker is an indoor smoker that is smaller than a mini-fridge and fits on the kitchen counter. It uses wood pellets and outdoor smoking technology to prepare smoked foods like chicken breast and wings. The device uses “active smoke filtration” to transform smoke into hot air. Users can connect the smoker to an app to adjust smoke levels and monitor the cooking process.
Smart dog collar
Invoxia Minitailzog Collar won the Best Innovation award in the AI category at CES. This is a fitness tracker for dogs that also offers GPS tracking. The collar tracks the dog’s health statistics and can detect signs of early heart failure.
Skyted Silent Mask
The Skyted Mask is designed to provide privacy by absorbing voice frequencies when on a call in a public environment. It connects wirelessly or wired to the user’s phone, and a dedicated app helps transmit speech by enhancing the user’s voice during audio and video calls.
Waterproof helmet
Shokz has unveiled its first Bluetooth and MP3 compatible sports headphones with an open-ear design based on bone conduction technology. OpenSwim Pro headphones are designed for complete waterproofing and high-quality sound, even underwater.
Holobox
The Holobox is an AI-powered box that displays a life-size holographic image of a person you’re talking to, creating a more immersive conversation experience. The Holobox requires that the person appearing as a hologram be on a white background. Otherwise, the person only appears as a shot, similar to a Zoom call. There is also a desktop version of the Holobox Mini technology.
Robot
Mirokai from Enchanted Tools is an anime-inspired logistics robot. This ball robot has four-fingered hands with a 97% success rate. It aims to help nurses move medical equipment and tools within healthcare settings.
