Business leaders think their data is ready for AI, but IT professionals spend hours every day getting it into shape, only to miss opportunities for automation.
Business leaders may be confident that their organization’s data is AI-ready, but IT professionals tell a much different story, with most spending hours each day whipping the data into shape.
Nearly nine in 10 business leaders say their organization’s data ecosystems are ready to create and deploy AI at scale, according to a recent study. Capital One AI Readiness Survey. But 84% of IT workers surveyed, including data scientists, data architects, and data analysts, spend at least an hour a day solving data problems.
Seventy percent of these IT professionals spend one to four hours per day troubleshooting data issues, while 14% spend more than four hours per day, according to the survey.
The investigation highlights a fundamental misunderstanding among many business leaders regarding the data work required to deploy most AI tools, says John Armstrong, CTO of Worldly, a supply chain sustainability data analytics platform.
