Membership in the UNESCO AI Business Council
The UNESCO Business Council for AI is open to members of the business community who embody the values and best practices of the UNESCO Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence.
The member companies of the UNESCO Business Council for AI are global leaders in the field of responsible AI. The UNESCO Social and Human Sciences Sector serves as the secretariat of the corporate council, responsible for promoting and energizing its functioning and activities.
The business council collaborates closely with UNESCO on the following activities:
• Promote the implementation of the UNESCO Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence within Businesses.
• Support public initiatives in countries and subnational governments to regulate AI with an ethical vision.
• Exchange experiences and facilitate multi-sector collaboration between companies from different sectors that are leading the development and use of AI.
• Promote awareness and knowledge generation on the ethical impact of AI.
• Disseminate private sector best practices in AI ethics.
Current members include the GSMA (observer) and co-chairs Microsoft and Telefonica.
Member benefits
Among other benefits, members receive exclusive invitations to participate in UNESCO activities open to business council. Members are also able to coordinate and engage other members on joint initiatives, documents and projects that advance the field of responsible AI globally. Opportunities to highlight AI skills initiatives under the UNESCO AI Skills Database are also open only to AI Business Council members.
Requirements
Corporate council membership is open to private sector entities that wish to endorse the UNESCO Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, participate in corporate council activities, make a voluntary contribution and receive funding. approval of the co-chairs of the works council and UNESCO.
