Banking is now a fundamental function of society and one that comes with many significant challenges that affect the entire ecosystem of stakeholders sharing a vested interest in the security of funds, data and economies in general. To truly understand the extent to which banks leave an impression on these different stakeholders, it is important to have leaders in place who can first convey the philosophy of the organization, but also piece together a narrative that integrates diverse perspectives.
What this means for BMO, the eighth largest bank in North America by assets, is that it needs someone who can assess the diverse needs of people who have different interactions with the organization, such as customers, communities and staff. It takes a lot of communication and empathy to fully understand the requirements of an influential company like BMO.
