Mila and Bell announced an 18-month collaborative project last Friday to apply deep learning neural network algorithms to Bell’s systems and data. Bell has made significant investments to develop expanded data analytics capabilities and AI applications across multiple areas of its operations, and this collaboration represents the latest step in advancing its AI expertise.
Mila researchers will work alongside Bell’s machine learning and AI teams to leverage these investments using cutting-edge deep learning neural network techniques to identify opportunities to improve business performance and customer experience.
These deep learning models of neural networks, inspired by the human brain, teach computers to recognize complex patterns in images, text, sounds and other data to produce accurate insights and predictions.
By honing its understanding of AI deep learning techniques, Bell will continue to improve its customer experience and accelerate its transition from a traditional telecommunications company to a leader in technology services. As part of this collaboration, Bell and Mila will write a paper highlighting their technical discoveries in support of global advances in AI.
Stéphane Létourneau, executive vice-president of Mila
Mila is very excited to work with Bell and apply her recognized expertise in deep learning to the telecommunications sector. Through this collaboration, we look forward to combining Mila’s research capabilities with Bell’s deep industry knowledge to highlight and harness the potential of AI in this evolving field.
Michel Richer, Senior Vice President, Enterprise Solutions, Data Engineering and AI, Bell Canada
