It’s certainly a good week to launch an initiative to encourage “the responsible use of AI in the music industry,” given the progress of the lawsuits against labels Suno and Udio.
AI: OK This is the initiative in question: a project launched by Dublin City University and funded by the Irish government.
“Our mission is to enable the supply chain and end users to easily identify ethically created music products and services, and in doing so, ensure that AI technology enhances human creativity while preserving the rights and interests of all music stakeholders,” is how AI:OK explains its intentions.
Self-regulation, transparent standards and a “trust mark” to label “music created responsibly in the AI era” are among his plans. Fairly Trained, the program that certifies AI models as responsibly trained, is a partner.
“We are committed to ensuring that AI is used ethically and that creators and consumers share the same trust in the music we all listen to and create together,” promised co-founder Dr. Martin Clancy.
